Hartwell Plastics has been a family run business since 1971 when George Wesley Massey and George W. Massey Jr. started the company. The company got its start manufacturing replacement parts for textile mills and poultry processing plants. George Wesley Massy ran the company until he retired in 1995 at 89 years old and later passed in 1998 at the age of 92.
From 1995 to 2008, George and his son George Wes Massey III ran the company until George developed colon cancer. The treatments prevented him from working for a long while, but he is still very informed and active with Hartwell Plastics today. George is a Vietnam veteran who earned a Combat Infantry Badge and was with the 173rd Airborne Brigade in 1968-1969.
